Melvin Gonsalves - Associate Head Coach
Email: melvin_gonsalves@lsrhs.net Coach Mel is currently in his twentieth year with the LSRHS Programs. Prior to LSRHS he was a teacher and coach at Needham High School. He currently works as an educator in the wellness department at LSRHS and has been the Director of the Sudbury Youth Track Camp for many years. When he is not coaching or teaching he can be found in and around the community supporting both of his children (Maya & Gabe) at all of their various activities. Coach Mel was been voted the Boston Globe Coach of The Year and his teams have won numerous Dual County, Divisional, and All State Titles while setting countless school records across every discipline. Coach Mel's tireless enthusiasm for the sport continues to be an inspiration for generations of student athletes regardless of experience or skill set. |
Sean Duncan - Associate Head Coach
UMass Amherst '11 - B.S Sports Management Gardner HS, MA '07 Email: sean_duncan@lsrhs.net Coach Sean is currently in his fourth year with the LSRHS programs. Prior to LSRHS he coached at Littleton High School and The University of Massachusetts Amherst. Coach Sean holds numerous national coaching certifications covering all event groups as well as strength and conditioning. He has experience serving on the board of USATF New England and is passionate about the role athletics plays in the personal development of each athlete as well as the transformative effect of teamwork. Currently he works with athletes as the Director of Youth/Elite Athlete Development at Personal Training International in Acton, MA. While at UMass he was an NCAA Regional Qualifier in the 3k Steeplechase and has run 1:07:22 in the Half Marathon, and 2:23:38 for the Marathon. He was the 2012 USATF New England Grand Prix Champion in both Road Racing and Cross Country. |

Zach Joachim - Cross Country / Sprints + Hurdles
Trinity '18 Lincoln Sudbury, MA '14 Coach Zach is in his second year with the cross country and track teams this season. As a proud alum he is passionate about the legacy of the program and the community behind it. He has continued to serve as an important bridge between past coaches, athletes, and teams in order to preserve many of the important legacies and traditions that make the student athlete experience at LSRHS memorable. During the winter and spring seasons he has played an integral role in the development of our sprint, hurdle, and relay squads. We proudly look forward to supporting him as he continues grow in his coaching career. |
Heather MacLean - Cross Country / Distance
UMass Amherst '19 - M.Ed. Higher Education UMass Amherst '17 - B.A. Psychology Peabody HS, MA '13 Coach Heather is the newest addition to the team this year. She joins the LSRHS staff after spending last season as an assistant coach for Milton Academy. Heather was a 3x NCAA Division 1 All-American and NCAA Top 30 Woman of the Year Recipient in Cross Country + Track during her time at UMass Amherst. She currently represents Team New Balance Boston as a professional athlete representative as she prepares to compete on the national and international stage. She placed 7th overall in the 1500M (4:05.27) at the 2019 USATF Outdoor Championships, as well as 6th overall in Mile (4:25.98) the 2020 Millrose Games. She currently holds the US#2 time in the 800m for 2020 with a PR of 2:00.29. We are looking forward to the wealth of knowledge and experience that Heather can bring to the teams this year and look forward to supporting her in her journey to compete on the national and international stage. |
